Legislative Update: June 5, 2007

By: Prospector

I had 9 appointments with Assembly Members today and all came off without a hitch and with favorable results. Three were with Ways & Means
Committee members, and I was assured that A1939 will go through as expected I also spoke with Senator Robach's office again and he is working to get S1705 onto the Transportation Committee agenda.  Legislators expect to be in Albany 4 days a week working to act on the many bills that are in the hopper     before the session ends in a few weeks.  There was an unusual number of committee meetings today, but none that dealt with our issues.  The halls were not very
crowded today, so I was able to proceed at a pleasant pace.  I continued to hear positive feedback from the Freedom Rally and also was complimented on the fact that we are expanding our interests and are not the one-issue organization that we have been in the past.  I'm pleased that this is being noticed, and, in fact, we are referred to as "those helmet guys" less frequently these days.   This can only enhance our credibility and gain respect for ABATE.

As session winds down, as I have in past years, I will keep my schedule as clear as possible in case I'm called with late developments that may require me to make unscheduled appearances at the LOB.
